Cedar Point: roller coaster capital

The Raptor greets guests as soon as they enter
On the shores of Lake Erie, lies what many think is the best amusement park in the US. While many might assume the title belongs to the Disney Empire, Cedar Point is the home of the best roller coasters in the world.
The Iron Dragon sweeps in over the pond

Without relying on the gimmickry of name brand movies and major character contracts titles, Cedar Point rides rely on masterful design and execution of roller coaster to maintain its place in the hearts and minds of the worlds coaster enthusiasts. In fact the American Coaster Enthusiasts were at Cedar Point that weekend when they placed a marker commemorating the work of Roller Coaster designer Ron Toomer, who was responsible for the landmark rides the Mine Ride, the Corkscrew, Gemini, and Iron Dragon. As well as the Magnum XL-200 which was one of the first coasters to break the 200 foot height barrier.

StringGirl and Amber accompanied the Parcells Middle School 7th and 8th grade bands and orchestras. There they participated in the annual Music in the Parks festival. The festival brings together elementary, middle, and high school choral and instrumental music programs to compete for judges who judge the bands and provide ratings and rankings.

Parcells Middle School collected 6 awards for two of its bands, its 7th and 8th grade orchestra, and 6th grade choir. Along with their first place awards for each category they also recieved recognition as the best instrumental group overall (i.e. best in show).

A trip to Cedar Point is a very worthwhile and exhausting endeavor, with all these great coasters to ride. StringGirl rode the Mean Streak, the Gemini, and the Millennium Force. The Millennium Force was the cream on the treat serving as the last event of the day. The Millennium Force is arguably the best coaster in the world. Sharing this title year after year with the Bizarro ride at Six Flags New England.
There I am catching a few ZZZZzzz's in the back of the picture
The Mean Streak and Gemini are two slightly older coasters that still non-the-less offer some one of a kind esperiences. The mean Streak is one of the longest and fastest wooden coasters. When Gemini opened in 1978 it was then the Tallest, Fastest, coaster in the world. Today it still is one of the best coasters as it is one of the few racing coasters where either track could win, a testament to the design that either car team can be the fastest of the moment.

Moonrise Kingdom, a cozy craft beer bar in Tokyo-Shinjuku

Craft Brewing is not what normally comes to mind when people ask about Japan. They'll ask if you like raw fish (there is more to Japanese cuisine than Sashimi or Sushi), or they'll comment about Sake (there is more than just rice wine in Japan); but if you look, you will definitely find some. Our recent trip to Tokyo, this April just after the Sakura had been swept away by rain :-( we were able to find a perfectly suitable refuge for the Craft Beer Lover.  Moonrise Kingdom(via their Instagram) StringGrrl with one of the NEIPA/Hazy IPA on tap from Japanese Craft Breweries As a treat, the owners shared an American Milk Stout from Left Hand Brewing out of Colorado Local ExPat who gave up their stool to make room for StringGrrl and Kam Carryout beer from Kyoto Brewing Company, Vertere

EYWTKAMABIWRTS

everything you wanted to know about my accident but I wasn't ready to share  (u pdated 28th February. Done, gone home, Scroll to see more ) Here's the lowdown since curiosity abounds: 1) NO, I didn't have a skiing accident. I resent the implication. I owned that fucking Hill . (Family Friendly video) 2) It was a sled 🛷 . It's not an extreme sport. It's called a Rodelbahn (toboggan road) and is considered fun for the whole family. Sebastian supplied the sleds/toboggans, and after a full morning on the mountain skiing. We planned to use the few remaining hours of lift access to run the Rodelbahn. Totally reasonable. 3) The run isn't like a luge or bobsled but a trail down reasonable slopes (switchbacks adjacent to a green dot, blue square ski run) but maybe a bit narrower. Rodelbahn at Nauders 4) I think I over-steered at the exact wrong time and was catapulted into the trees, and down a steep slope, bounced off many trees, broke a few d...
