Very much never thought that the title of this post would be something thought let alone written. The Nordstadt (North City) of Dortmund does not have a reputation for upwardly mobile culture. The Depothek; built into the former tram depot in Dortmund. Like much in the Ruhrgebiet old industrial buildings are re-purposed with an eye to culture. While this may seem counter-intuitive to many that art and old industrial buildings for art and culture, but many in German feel that the bond between the two is strong. KamGrrl, the latest iteration of StringGirl to travel with me February of this year a very unfortunate event lead to us having to say goodbye to StringGirl and Amber. After a flight from Zurich to Dusseldorf, I found that the two girls had sprung loose and did not make it out of the airside portion of Dusseldorf Airport. After over 600,000 miles flown the original StringGirl was gone. What I found was that travel really was not the same without them. It's been a great few weeks traveling around with Eric. I've been to many places: + Rotterdam and Amsterdam + Dortmund, Germany + East Paris, Ohio + Detroit, Michigan Eric is mailing me back to my family along with a DVD with tons on photos of our trip, and my own VanGogh.
