Milano, Italia: StringGirl gets the boot

The first stop in StringGirls itinerary was the Castello Sforzesco. There we find that things are not all good. Angry Peasants in front of the gate to Castello Sforzesco Soldiers move in to quell the unrest Not one to stick around during danger (we could hear the musket fire later), StringGirl and I move on to see what else we can find in old Milano. Duomo Duomo is next on the agenda. From the Piazza Del Duomo StringGirl takes the opportunity to snap a shot of me feeding the birds. Piazza Del Duomo galeria Science buff StringGirl finds Leonardo.

Schipol Airport: Escher was here

METAMORPHOSIS, by M.C. Escher is one of our favorites. We have been learning about M.C.E. in school and all about tessellation. This photo is from the M Terminal in Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands, one of StringGirls most visited airports.

Moon over Barcelona: StringGirl revisits the city of Gaudi

The moon rising over Barcelona StringGirl heads back for some more Tapas in BCN. The photo above of the moon rising over the Mediterranean makes Eric wish for a better camera. Hopefully this lousy 3MegaPix photo can do the moon justice from that night.  Out for an evening stroll through the Arc-de-Triomf and the Old Center of BCN. On her way to Tapas. Tapas in the Old Center of Barcelona. Those are Pimentos de Pedron with Jamon Iberico  A plate of Pulpos (octopus) and Patatas (potatoes)

StringGirl: I'm with the Band!

@Club Hey performing with Funk-o-meter of Zurich StringGirl takes some time out to get funky with the gang at ClubHey in Zurich. The Band Funk'o'meter  played to an intimate crowd in the Altstadt of Zurich. Mixing old school funk, some soulful and swinging  tunes, and a little playfulness makes a great show for this up and coming Zuri band. Here she poses with Keyboard Player and backing vocals Roald With Silke and Felix of AutoForm

StringGirl is afraid of heights so I had to take this picture without her

StringGirl: packing up, hitting the "road", and taking the world's safest flight (?)

StringGirl is getting ready to hit the trail on her way to Zurich. Why does she think it is the safest flight? Well the flight goes via Amsterdam from Detroit. After Christmas we are figuring that the odds of any odd goings on there should be lower. StringGirl was a little disturbed by the news Christmas morning but we assured her that the TSA would certainly see fit to inconvenience any extremists into missing this flight. Hopefully there will be no new posts of StringGirl in such a scene. In brighter news. StringGirl is (has just recieved her Swiss Halbtax card for SBB) what's that mean? Half price rail tickets Around Switzerland for the next two years. And Half off at some partner resorts and ski hills. So StringGirl is getting her board sharpened and waxed for Lenzerheide and Flumserberg in the coming weeks.

StringGirl: Dusseldorf and the World

"World Cup FIS Ski Cross-Country takes place on the banks of the Rhine. For the eighth year running, the International FIS Ski Association has opted for Düsseldorf as venue for the World Cup." StringGirl tries to get in on the action at the Skiweltcup. Somewhere around 60 Santas also joined in the festivities. This was all part of the larger Weihnachtmarkt or Kriskindlmarkt (Christmas market) hosted in the Altstadt (oldtown)
