A day in Munich with the Grosse Pointe North German class tour

Crossing from the English Gardens to the Bayerisch National Museum
The class was on a whirlwind tour of Germany, while StringGirl and Kam were in Germany for work. Arrangements were made to travel from Essen, where Kam had spent the work week slinging VR for ESI Software GmbH, to meet the group down in Munich.
The Eisbach just downstream of the famous urban surfing spot
Among the stops made during the day together in Munich was a stop by the English Gardens and a chance to cool down in the Eisbach. Pictures that we took would not do the surfers on the Eisbach justice. But there is plenty of good footage on YouTube.

The Class in front of the Neurrathaus, Marienplatz Munich
The Munich Altstadt is well known for the large clockwork on the Neue Rathaus (New Town Hall) several times each day the bells will ring while automation will put on a show commemorating the 1568 tournament held for the marriage of Duke William V and Renata of Lorraine in the Marienplatz.
A meta picture with StringGirl 3.0 and 1.0 at more than 7 years apart
We were pleased to have the chance to recreate one of StringGirl's earliest overseas voyages more than 7 years ago, when her first Avatar posed for a picture here.
From nearby the Opera House looking across Wilhelmstrasse

The Bavarian National Theatre which houses the Bavarian Staatsoper
The tour guide told  us that Mozart premiered his operas "La Finta Giardinera" and "Idonomea" here, but they were held at Residence Theater, which is around the corner and not visible from this plaza.
At the BMW World Lego display
The tour also took us to the BMW Museum at BMW World. Among the interesting displays there was a real motocycle recreation of an imaginary hover-bike first created in Lego using a Standard BMW motorcycle kit. BMW liked the creation so much they made a real version (hover function still pending).
Americas Cup model
BMW is also quite famously a sponsor of this years US America's Cup entry from Team Oracle. The Catamaran has been racing around trying to defend the sailing title from the Kiwis. The Hydrofoil Catamarans this year were especially large and fast. But the Kiwis design which replace the hand grinders with cycling stations proved so successful that many wanted to challenge the use of the technique.
BMW Welt
Much of the space in the Museum is pretty much a new car showroom with some event spaces and historic displays. The space is grand and soaring. And is a tribute to various design elements common to cars (if not always BMW Cars).
This part of BMW World is fashioned to look like the Cylinders in and Engine

Another stop was the Nymphenburg Palace with only 15 minutes dedicated to this tour stop we barely had time to walk the grounds and see the palace from the far end of the gardens, which from photos on the internet look to be the best views of the palace.

GeoCaching is a global game for users of GPS devices. A global treasure hunt with millions of hidden locations, and a multinational following. www.geocaching.com  is where you can go to play as well. I have placed my first in Zurich. It is a mystery cache, so the players will have to locate clues along the way to solve a puzzle for the location. View Larger Map  Puls ? How many films play here? Moonrise Kingdom, a cozy craft beer bar in Tokyo-Shinjuku

Craft Brewing is not what normally comes to mind when people ask about Japan. They'll ask if you like raw fish (there is more to Japanese cuisine than Sashimi or Sushi), or they'll comment about Sake (there is more than just rice wine in Japan); but if you look, you will definitely find some. Our recent trip to Tokyo, this April just after the Sakura had been swept away by rain :-( we were able to find a perfectly suitable refuge for the Craft Beer Lover.  Moonrise Kingdom(via their Instagram) StringGrrl with one of the NEIPA/Hazy IPA on tap from Japanese Craft Breweries As a treat, the owners shared an American Milk Stout from Left Hand Brewing out of Colorado Local ExPat who gave up their stool to make room for StringGrrl and Kam Carryout beer from Kyoto Brewing Company, Vertere

EYWTKAMABIWRTS

everything you wanted to know about my accident but I wasn't ready to share  (u pdated 28th February. Done, gone home, Scroll to see more ) Here's the lowdown since curiosity abounds: 1) NO, I didn't have a skiing accident. I resent the implication. I owned that fucking Hill . (Family Friendly video) 2) It was a sled 🛷 . It's not an extreme sport. It's called a Rodelbahn (toboggan road) and is considered fun for the whole family. Sebastian supplied the sleds/toboggans, and after a full morning on the mountain skiing. We planned to use the few remaining hours of lift access to run the Rodelbahn. Totally reasonable. 3) The run isn't like a luge or bobsled but a trail down reasonable slopes (switchbacks adjacent to a green dot, blue square ski run) but maybe a bit narrower. Rodelbahn at Nauders 4) I think I over-steered at the exact wrong time and was catapulted into the trees, and down a steep slope, bounced off many trees, broke a few d...
