Brisket, Zurich: Barbecue worthy of its Southern claims

Ground Level Main Dining Room, Centerpiece is a massive banquet table of rough hewn wood hanging from ceiling  Upper bar and rear dining room, with access to patio Brisket, Spicy Sausage, Pork belly  A new favorite in Zurich, Brisket is a full service southern Barbecue that is very worthy of any Southern city. The founders apparently did research traveling to Austin to sample a wide array of BBQ and get the finer points of the art of smoked meats. I have to say they nailed it. Service with a smile  We arrived and ordered quite smartly the Grand Slam. A combo platter that allowed the four of us to sample nearly the full array of the meat offered at Brisket. Their signature Brisket is a robust  Coffee and Black Pepper rubbed brisket slow smoked, and served in massive slices that crumbled to the fork.  Pulled Pork was luscious, Pork Belly decadent, Sausages spicy and succulent, and pulled chicken which is not usually my thing, was well prepared and...

Went to Germany, had a burger: Buffalo Beef, Dortmund review

When one goes to Germany you might think of Berger / Burger and not think of hamburgers. Even Hamburg does not have anything to do with the seemingly (but wrongly) namesake Hamburger. Hamburger could refer to a person from Hamburg, but not the sandwich is not.  A "premium burger bude" (stall, stand, booth) Buffalo Beef in Dortmund is a cozy little burger joint that delivers large and tasty burgers in the heart of Kruezfeld. The burgers we quite good, and on part for prices with what we might pay in the US for an "upscale burger". Well above what I might expect from a 5 guys or Smashburger offering, this is on a level similar to the Detroit Favorite Brasserie Burger from the Red Coat Tavern. The limited time Champion Burger hiding behind the beer Served on your choice of ...

Markthal Rotterdam, Jamie's Italian

The market hall ceiling is a riot of color and representation of market goods, those are windows to mixed-use spaces behind  In the heart of Rotterdam, just outside the Rotterdam Blaak station is the grand market hall space, "Markthal". This massive mixed use construction is a large horseshoe shaped building (maybe more a post modern Quonset Hut) which houses some 4600 sq. meters of retail, 228 apartments, and a massive 4 story underground parking garage. With its enormous glass ends, the Markthal creates the illusion of a very large farmers market shed. With clear views of the nearby architecture- Rotterdam Library, Blaak Tower, and the famous Rotterdam cube houses .  IT'S CHEESE!!  Wheels of cheese in the Markthal Nuts galore at one of the Markthal vendors We gathered for dinner at Jamie's Italian (Jamie Oliver) There are many restaurants inside the Markthal, we dined at Jamie's Italian . The dining room was much larger than the res...
