Market Day in Provence

In Aix-en-Provence StringGirl and the family visit the Market. The market is a daily affair from Tuesday through Saturday here. Sellers of Fresh flowers, produce, and arts-and-craft products all gather to hawk their wares here in the center of town. Fresh spices and other smells awaken the senses. Colorful displays of all sorts stimulate the imagination and appetite. These lucky shoppers have found a bright display of stamps to add to their collections.

Cassis France and The Calanques

Went to visit the Calanques d' Cassis. Absolutely breathtaking. Of course my camera dies only a few minutes into the ride (completely touristic boat trip). My preference was for the hike but it turns out that taking 10-12 year olds on hikes through near desert conditions for the 1 hour it takes to get to these remote beaches is a little much to ask. Last view of Italy after crossing into France

The view behind the train is the end of the Italian portion of the Alps, as we wait to cross into France (apparently many of these Alps passes have only single tracks and we had to wait for the northbound train to clear before proceeding). Ten hour train rides always sound better when plugged into a good book. The Girlz highly recommend the Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. Next Stop: Provence and the BEACH View Larger Map

Zurich: Altstadt and Lindenhof

Looking across the Limmat river to the Niederdorfli from the Kinderspiel (playground) at the Lindenhof. Walking along the Sihl riverwalk on the way to the Main Station (Hauptbahnhof). This little walk follows the Sihl river from Selnau to the Hauptbahnhof. Getting down to the river level away from the streets was a nice cooling affair on this summer morning as we headed out for the day.
